Kande Pohe

Maharashtrian special Kade Pohe is famous not in Maharashtra but other parts of the country as well. Poha for which English name is Flattened Rice/Beaten Rice, easily digestible form of raw rice is very popular across India. Normally used to prepare snacks or light and easy fast food in a variety of Indian cuisine.

Ingredients

  1. Thick Poha – 2 cup (200 grams)
  2. Oil – for cooking
  3. Cumin seeds – 1/2 tea spoon
  4. Mustered seeds – 1/2 tea spoon
  5. Curry leaves – 1 string
  6. Green Chilies (chopped) – 3-4 numbers
  7. Onion (chopped) – 1 number
  8. Turmeric powder – 1/2 tea spoon
  9. Peanuts – 1 table spoon
  10. Coriander leaves (chopped) – 1 table spoon
  11. Coconut (fresh and grated) – 1 table spoon (optional)
  12. Lemon (juice) – 1 /2 lemon
  13. Salt – to taste
  14. Sugar – to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the Poha 1 or 2 times and drain the excess water, keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in kadhai fry peanuts and keep them aside.
  3. Now in the same heated oil add mustard and cumin seeds, curry leaves, chopped green chillies and saute for 1 minute.
  4. Add chopped onion and saute it on medium heat till onion becomes translucent.
  5. Now add turmeric powder and mix well.
  6. Add soaked poha and mix all the ingredients after that add salt, sugar an dfried peanuts and again mix everything properly.
  7. Finally garnsh with chopped coriander leaves and grated fresh coconut (coconut is optional).
  8. Serve hot with lemon slice.
